Live Sale Assistant (Development)

A new paradigm for entrepreneurs is social retailing. Those who have a following on social media can turn their popularity into a business. With various platforms that offer live video streaming, these personalities can use modest equipment to establish their own home shopping network effectively. Retailers can display items for sale in a live broadcast and accept orders from the audience in real-time. Often these items are of limited quantity. The challenge is to accept each customer's offer equitably without overselling the supply. I developed a system called Live Sale Assistant (LiSA for short) to overcome the various challenges in this type of operation. Using a mobile and tablet-friendly interface, the retailer can scan a barcode or tap a product name to display details on their video feed. It will accommodate product variations (e.g., size and color) and assign a unique claim number. In concert with a web browser plug-in, comments are automatically collected and identified as offers to buy in the order in which they are received. Upon confirmation, feedback is given to the customers on their offer. A drag-and-drop interface allows the retailer to keep their entire live sale organized with the tap of a finger.
